Zabljak, (MINA-BUSINESS) – An average of 500 tourists a day are staying at hotels and in private accommodation in Zabljak.

"More than 90 percent of accommodation capacities were full during the New Year holidays, while occupancy rate is currently at approximately 50 percent," the local Tourism Organization (TO) told Mina-business agency, adding that the number of guests increases on weekends.

TO Zaljak said that the number of tourist arrivals to this city and Mount Durmitor would continue to grow in the coming days.

TO representatives reminded that the winter tourist season had started in mid-December, with the ski opening event ever organized in Zabljak.

"Welcomed by a rich entertainment programme and promotion of gastronomic specialties, the first tourists started the season, which is expected to be among the most successful ones in the previous several years," the Tourism Organization said.

There is enough snow in Zabljak, and the Savin kuk resort saw a record number of visitors as early as in December.

"Electricity and water supply has been regular, while local and main roads are clear," TO says, adding that there has been no serious complaints this season.

The ski centres Javorovaca and Savin kuk are open every day.

"Over five kilometres of ski runs are well prepared and currently covered by over 40 centimetres of snow. Moreover, the areas for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing are also open," the NTO says.

As of this year, Savin kuk has snow cannons available, in case the snowmaking is necessary on the ski slopes.

"An adventure park for children and adults is also open," the TO Zabljak says.

Same as every year, free transport is organized for tourists from the city centre to both ski centres.

"The thrill seekers are also interested in conquering the highest peaks and visiting the hidden parts of Mount Durmitor in snowmobiles," the Tourism Organization says.
