Palma and Grbalj hotels get certified

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESSS) – The hotels Palma in Tivat and Grbalj in Badva have joined the group of hotels that have received the international Travelife certificates and the EU Ecolabels.

According to a press release issued by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office, the National Tourism Organization (NTO) and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, there are 23 certified hotels in Montenegro, while the number of those interested in the certification process in growing.

“The concept of ‘green’ hotels implies a more economical use of the electricity and water resources, environmental protection, popularization of the sustainable transport concept and reduction of the waste produced by hotels. It also envisages the use of nontoxic cleaning agents and more attention paid to the environmental protection,” says the press release.

The press release says that the observance of ‘green’ standards allows the hotels to save money, while giving them a marketing edge.

According to the press release, certain guests who understand the importance of environmental protection prefer to stay at the hotels that observe ‘green’ standards and are prepared to pay more for their services.

The NTO and the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism provide funding for the Travelife and EU Ecolabel environmental certification in partnership with the UNDP within the framework of the project “Low-Carbon Tourism Development”.
