Startup community makes progress

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Director for Strategy and Digitalization at M:tel Aleksandra Radojevic, the startup community in Montenegro has made a great progress in the previous several years, but it is still necessary to work on the issues related to the sources of funding, number of startups, their performance and maturity.

“The startup community has made a great progress in the last several years but we are still not recognized by the some of the main lists in the world,” Radojevic told Mina-business agency.

She said that it was therefore necessary to work on the issues related to the sources of finance, number of startups, their performance and maturity.

“The level of investments in research and development is very important, as well as the potentials of the talents available in the market. We hope that M:tel and the Digital Factory are partly deserving of some of the first steps that have been made and that we are pioneers in this field,” said Radojevic.

She believes that, in terms of maturity, the ecosystem is in the initial phase of activation.

“We will hopefully enter the second phase of globalization, which requires more startups with exits of more than €1 million. It is also necessary to increase the number of startups, and to connect our ecosystem with the international one,” said Radojevic.

She said that, in order to be successful, startups need market, as well as the source of finance.
